New School Year!

Hello permaculture lovers and welcome to the kickoff of our second year! First, we would like to share some amazing news. Whole Foods has awarded the Ursuline Academy Permaculture Awareness Club a grant of $2,000, seeds, and a book on gardening. There could not have been any better news to start the year with. We want to thank Miss Merani, our club moderator for the time she took to fill out the application and paperwork. Mrs. Bourgeois for her support and tot he Ursuline Finance Department for their support and work.

We had out first club meeting this past Friday August 30th made our goals for the next few weeks.

1. We will get the garden going. Due to the extreme heat here in Texas during the months of June and July many of our plants suffered and we had to take them out. We also discovered fire ants in the soil. We have found an organic kind of venom that will help us deal with this problem. We will be applying it on Wednesday.

2. We will plant our crops for the fall.

3. RECRUITING! We really hope to be able to make more bends and expand the garden but in order to do that we need to have a bigger group of members. We will be working very hard these next few weeks to recruit.

Below I have attached a calendar that we will be following the next few weeks.

Stay tuned for more on our great adventure!

Closing to An Amazing Year!

Hello Permaculture lovers! This past year has truly been amazing. Starting from last August when we began to plan for the Ursuline Academy Permaculture Awareness Club and the garden. Through a lot of digging, sweating, carrying, loading, unloading, and hours of labor after school; we made our dream come true. As closing of the school year and in order to celebrate our success, in May we held a small pizza party to end the year. Most of the fresh ingredients came from our garden and we made the pizza from scratch. Here are a few pictures from that delicious evening: Enjoy!
